2 packages = 2 applications

This is a very simple to carry out self-PSA test to determine the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in blood. You have to give only a few drops of blood on the test strip. After 15 minutes you will have the result.

Remove quickly all the uncertainties of a possible prostate cancer.

Limit (cut off) of our PSA home test/rapid test, according to international standards: 4 ng / mL.

The prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is an intracellular glycoprotein (MW 34 000 Dalton), which is formed only in the prostate and in seminal plasma. PSA, is a normal part of the prostate tissue in benign hyperplastic and malignant prostatic tissue, in metastatic prostate cancer, in prostatic fluid and seminal plasma.

PSA is elevated in the serum of prostate cancer patients as a result of increased dividends. The PSA Test is a rapid, qualitative evidence of the recognition of human PSA (free or complex form with a-1-antichymotrypsin) in plasma, serum or whole blood. The method uses a unique combination of monoclonal dye conjugate and monoclonal solid phase antibodies to selectively identif decorated with a high sensitivity of PSA in the test samples.

If PSA is present in the sample it is into an alliance with the monoclonal antibody-gold conjugate into an alliance to form a complex. This complex in turn binds to anti-PSA antibodies in the test zone (T), where it causes a pink line when the PSA concentration greater than 4 ng / ml is. PSA is not present, no line forms in the T-zone. The fluid flows through the absorption field and passes the reaction zone (T) as well as the control area (C). Unbound conjugate reacts with the reagents of the control area (C), than a pink line is visible, which demonstrates the correct operation of the reagent.

Men over 45 should know their PSA level …

The term prostate disease, both benign and malignant changes in the prostate combined, which require identification and treatment quite different strategies.

The prostate cancer (prostate cancer, PCA) is the malignant changes of the organ. It differs in particular due to its slow and late onset of tumor growth of most other malignant tumors. The number of new cases has steadily increased in recent years. It is now the most common cancer of men in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

“Prostate cancer (ICD-10: C61) makes a good 20% of all cancer cases in men (followed by colon and lung cancer by about 16% and 15%) occur each year according to an estimate of the Robert Koch Institute, nearly 49,000. new cases of prostate cancer. The incidence is about 120 per 100,000 men across all age groups. Every year about 11,000 men die of this cancer. ” * 1

Many of these deaths could be avoided. All men should be pointed out, says the Cancer Society, that this disease has a very good healing chance and thus survival opportunities. Prerequisite, however, is a targeted and consistent screening.

By PSA determination, more than 80 percent of all prostate cancers – those mostly in the early stage – striking contrast, only a few are recognized by palpation in the early stages. In the assessment of PSA, it is important to know that an increased value can also be benign enlargement of the prostate and decrease inflammation.

Prostate cancer can be prevented!

By health insurance at the time, only the so-called digital rectal palpation is reimbursed as a precautionary measure. Although this is the doctor can feel for changes, but only if they are already well defined (experience of the doctor). The disease is no longer in the early stages, but already well advanced. Prostate cancer is a positive DRE is usually already so large that the likelihood of successful treatment are significantly reduced.

For professionals, the determination of prostate specific antigen (PSA), is the most important measure for detecting prostate cancer at a very early stage.

“The evaluation of this test was for the high hit rate for PSA levels below and above the successful internationally recognized cut-off value of 4.0 ng / mL (diagnostic specificity of 83.8 percent, 90.5 percent sensitivity). With the PSA rapid test can determine the urologist or family doctor during the consultation have an elevated PSA value and thus initiate without delay and psychological burden for patients, further diagnostic steps for early detection of prostate cancer. ” * 2

How is the PSA test performed?

The study with the PSA test is quick and simple: a blood sampe of the finger tip, ear lobe or vein is taken with a small prick and brought to a small test map. After 5-15 minutes the result is clearly due to a color reaction on the test card. The result is not read for more than 15 minutes!

What you should know about costs of the screening:
The study was in men over 45 years at least once per year. The PSA-based screening in men is generally not provided by statutory health insurance funds. The cost of the PSA test, who as a useful addition to the legal screening, must in this case payed by the patient himself.
