What must you be aware of before making your purchase?
If you’re interested in home testing kits, then be warned as there are also poor quality products in this sector that you should better avoid. So, err on the side of caution and follow this advice:
1.) For CE and/or TÜV tested home testing kits you should request the certificate of authenticity before making your purchase or should review this on the website first.
2.) Place your trust in a manufacturer that also offers full telephone, email and live support via chat.
3.) The support telephone number should in all cases be within the EU. Otherwise, you should stay clear.
4.) Read the customer reviews which you’ll find on the guest book.
5.) Ensure that the websites you use to enter your own personal data are themselves encrypted via SSL (this you’ll see by the “https” at the beginning of the URL, e.g. https://www.meinefirma.com or the golden padlock on the top corner of your web browser).
6.) Check whether the website has published full company details – you would be advised not to purchase through PO-box addresses (“post-office box”, or “P.O. Box”).
7.) Look up the address that’s listed in the company details in Google Maps (http://maps.google.com).
8.) The company name listed in the company details must either be a corporation (e.g. GmbH, Ltd/Limited, KG, OHG) or a natural person (e.g. XYZ Web Shop – Hans Muster). A description like, for example, “XYZ Web Shop” alone would be insufficient to show that this is a valid company and therefore such a company would not exist!
7.) Ensure that the products will be shipped out from within the EU.
8.) The manufacturer must always be listed, if that’s not the case, then there’s definitely something awry.
